Kid Words of Wisdom

Micah-"If we went to Africa, it would probably take us three days to get there."
Mommy-"Probably not that long since we would have to take a plane."
Micah-"Or, we could take the subway."
Mommy-"There is no subway to Africa."
Micah-"Yes there is. It goes under the ocean all the way to Africa."
Mommy-"I don't think so. Where did you learn that"
Micah-"From the missionaries at church, and they know cuz they have been there."

Conversations on Love

Tonight at bedtime...
Lily(matter-of-factly)-"Shawn(a boy in her class)is in love with me".
Mommy-"How do you know that?"
Lily-"Because I asked him if he was and he said yes."
Mommy-"And why did you ask him that?"
Lily-"Because he always acts like he is in love with me."
Mommy-"How does he act like he is in love with you?"
Lily-"Well...he always ask me if he can play with me so I asked him if he was in love with me and he said yes. But don't worry, I'm not in love with him."

And a few months ago...
Lily-"I'm going to marry Kellen(another boy in her class).
Mommy-"Oh really?"
Lily-"Yeah, and Malenna(one of her friends) wants to marry him too."
Mommy-"Hmmm...how is that going to work."
Lily-"I don't know, I guess he will just have to do Eenie Meenie Miney Mo."

"It Sounds A Little Fishy"

Tonight was Micah's 2nd grade music performance at school. It was called "It Sounds A Little Fishy" and was pretty cute. The kids all had different sea animal headbands that they had made.
Don't look too excited, Micah :)

The kids had also decorated the hallway leading into the gym, where the performance was. Here are the fish that Micah made.

Great job, Micah!

Another Laclor Ride, Please!

Lucy has been working on staying in her bed at night. Usually, when I put her to bed, she comes right back out and it is at least an hour long battle to get her to finally stay in bed and go to sleep. I even made her a sticker chart and when she stays in her bed, she gets a sticker on her chart. If she fills up her chart, she gets a prize. It doesn't happen very often. I think she has only earned 3 stickers in a month. The other night, after Isaiah had taken her for a ride on the tractor, I put her to bed and told her, "Now stay in your bed so you can get a sticker on your chart". She replied, "No, I don't want a sticker on my chart. I want 'nother laclor (tractor) ride. I told her ok, she could have another tractor ride with Daddy if she stayed in her bed and sure enough, she went right to sleep that night.

Tractor Rides

Isaiah's dad just bought this little tractor and the girls have been begging for a ride on it. Isaiah finally fired it up and gave them a ride around the "back 40". They loved it.

And the next project is...

Our backyard! It was such a nice day on Saturday that we decided to to yard work. I was just planning on raking out all the flower beds, but have been wanting to make the beds in the back yard more curved. There were also some bushes that I had planted too close together which were growing into each other and just did not look right. Before I knew it, I was digging up sod and pulling up bushes. The kids had great fun looking for worms(ewww) in all the dug up dirt. I didn't get a before picture, but doesn't it look so much better? Ok, so it still needs a little work, but it will.

And this is where our new pool will be going. We are planning to put in a big above ground pool here. Ahhh...I can't wait for Summer!

Confetti!

Here is a picture of the confetti Lily made me today. She peeled all the wrappers off some of her crayons and cut them up into "confetti". She was so proud of herself, too. I love the confetti and your creativity, Lily :)

They're baaaack....

We have these little bugs that run rampant around our front yard and porch every Spring and Summer. At first, I didn't mind them, but they are literally everywhere in the Summer time...all over our front door and patio, crawling all over the garden, and they even come in the house. Ewww! Anyway, I believe the official name for these little critters is Boxelder Bugs, but the kids like to call them "Love Bugs". A couple of weeks ago, I started seeing one every so often. Then, all of the sudden, they were everywhere! In a way, I was even excited to see the "Love Bugs" because it meant that Spring is near. Of course, the kids were excited and ran outside with their bug habitat to catch some "Love Bugs".

A Princess Grows Up

Since she was around 2 years old, Lily has loved all things having to do with Princesses. She loved all the Disney princess movies, especially Cinderella, and wanted to be a Princess when she grew up. I knew it wouldn't last forever, but the other day, she informed me that, "Mommy, I think I am getting too old to believe in Princesses." I can't even put into words how sad this made me. I made some remark about how you are never too old to believe in Princesses, but it was just another reminder of how fast they are all growing up.

Here she is on her 3rd Birthday with Cinderella(aka: my friend, Laura), who came to her party. Lily was just in awe the whole time that Cinderella was really at her Birthday party :)
