Rocks, Rocks, Rocks...
My child is obsessed with rocks. I find them in her room, under her pillow, in her backpack, in her pockets, and in the washing machine after I wash her clothes. She brings them home from school, finds them in parking lots, takes them out of other people's gardens (Yes friends, gaurd your rocks the next time Lily comes over for a playdate). She has even been known to pocket gravel from our driveway. The girl loves rocks. They are like little treasures to her. She brought these beauties home from school today and couldn't wait to show them to me and tell me which one was her favorite. Of course, I was a mean mom and made her put them outside with the rest of the rocks in the garden. I suppose I should treasure these days when all it takes is such a simple thing to make her happy.

Lucy's Photo Shoot
I just realized that my last few posts have been about Lucy. We have had lots of time to our selves lately with the other two in school. I finally got a chance to take her 2-year-old pictures. I took her outside and we had a little "photo shoot" on her Great Grandmommie's front porch. These are some of my favorite shots.

Lucy
I just love these pictures I took of Lucy a couple days ago. They just show her little personality so much. Although she is a handful, I am having so much fun with her lately. With the other two in school now, it is just the two of us(at least until Lily gets home from Kindergarten). She loves to do anything her big brother and sister are doing and is heart-broken when she can't get on the bus with them in the morning. That is, until I remind her that it is time for Curious George to come on. She loves her "ooh ooh aah aah". She is also getting quite the little attitude. The other day, she was trying to help herself to a snack right before dinner and I told her to get out of the cupboard right now. She hung her head down for a second then looked up, put her hands on her hips and said, "You don't talk me that way, Mama!" Yes, she has got a mind of her own, but is such a sweetheart. She loves to gives hugs and kisses and every day when Micah and Lily get home from school, she asks "How your day, Blah blah(brother)?" or "How your day, Lily" and won't stop asking until they give her a sufficient answer about how their day was.

The Abandoned Teddy
This is Lucy's Teddy Bear, "Teddy". Ever since she was about a year old, she has had to have Teddy sleep with her. If we couldn't find Teddy at bedtime, we would search high and low until we found him because she would not go to bed without him. Then, a couple weeks ago, I was putting Lucy to bed. She handed me her teddy bear and said, "Me no want Teddy". Ever since, she has not slept with him. Sometimes, I find him lying around on the floor. Tonight, after the kids went to bed, I looked over and saw him laying on the couch, looking lonely. So, of course, I had to take a picture of him. Poor Teddy. It made me kind of sad, just another reminder that my baby is growing up to quickly.

Riding the Bus
I think the most exciting thing about starting Kindergarten for Lily has been getting to ride the bus. I drove them to school all last week and she kept asking when she could ride the bus. Well, she finally got to. Micah was such a great big brother, too. He even waited for her at the top of the stairs. He does still have a soft side, after all. Of course, I did have to follow the bus to school. I ended up going to their school after they left anyway, since the school nurse was coming to Lily's class to talk about food allergies and her teacher asked all the parents of kids with food allergies to be there. It was really just an excuse to follow the bus to school, though :) Of course, now Lucy thinks that she should get to ride the bus, too. She likes to go out and wait for the bus with Micah and Lily and always says, "Me ride bus, me ride bus too!" I just tell her, "All too soon, Lucy, all too soon."

Our New Swingset
So...Isaiah and I bought a new wooden swingset for the kids and since he has been so busy (not to mention sick for a month), I told him I was just going to put it together myself. He laughed and told me I couldn't do it, so of course I had to prove him wrong. One week and a horendously messy house later, we have a swingset! I must say, I am pretty proud of myself. Isaiah was pretty impressed, too. And yes, the kids have been playing on it and it is still standing. Now, if I can just catch up on the laundry and the dishes and the bathrooms...

First Day of School!
Wow, the summer really flew by and it is hard to believe I now have a Second Grader and a Kindergartener! Today was Lily's first day of Kindergarten. She was so excited and LOVES her teacher, Mrs. Morris. Today, they baked Gingerbread Men and went on a hunt around the school to find them. She can't wait to go to school again tomorrow. I love that she is so excited about school, but I am also a little sad to see her go. :(
Here she is, lined up outside of her classroom door.

And here they both are, outside of their school.

Micah looks so grown-up in this picture. It seems like just yesterday that I was dropping him off for his first day of Kindergarten. He actually started school two days ago, but we had a couple of rough mornings which were NOT picture-worthy. For some reason, he was not quite as excited as his sister about starting school again. It's always hard to get back into the school routine, but today was better, so I snapped some pictures. I'm sure the day will come when they will cringe with embarrasement when I try to take their picture on the first day of school, but I can still get away with it for now.
