Baseball Trophies, Preschool Programs, and Potty Training

Where do I even start? This has been a BUSY week. Micah's last baseball game of the year was on Wednesday night. He did a great job and we celebrated afterwards with a pizza party at Figaro's Pizza, where they had a little trophy ceremony. Lily had her last day of preschool on Friday. I can't beleive she will be starting kindergarten in the fall. Anyway, they had their end-of-the-year program Friday morning. They sang some of the songs they have been learning all year and each got a chance to recite a nursery rhyme. Lily's was "Jack and Jill". When it was her turn, Miss Jan reminded her to say her part nice and loud and boy did she. The two little boys next to her were covering their ears. Gotta love that girl. To top off the week, Lucy has been potty-training this week. She caught on pretty quickly and is now officially potty-trained (with the occasional pull-up for outings and night time). And to top it all off, we left to go camping Friday afternoon (more about that later).

Filling "Brother's" Shoes

I caught Lucy playing in Micah's room today while he was at school. She had gone in there and shut the door and when she came out, this is how she looked. Apparently, she had gotten into his baseball bag, put his helmet on, and pulled out his glove and bat. She came out of his room saying "Blah blah, Blah blah", which is how she says "Brother". I just thought it was so cute. She had the helmet on backwards, but I turned it around to take the picture. She just cracks me up!

Rookie Jamboree

Saturday was the "Rookie Jamboree", so Micah had two baseball games. They called all the kiddos out onto the field by name and they even got a little medal. They are still just so darn cute at this age. Oh yeah, and Micah is the one to the left of the pitching machine.

Green Ice Cream?

Two of my favorite cookbooks are "Deceptively Delicious" by Jessica Steinfield and "The Sneaky Chef" by Missy LaPine. They both have great recipes and ideas for "sneaking" veggies into food that kids will eat. Tonight, I decided to try making "mint chocolate chip ice cream". Just a little vanilla ice cream, peppermint extract, chocolate chips, spinach, and a blender. I had my doubts, but the kids gobbled it up.

Two Front Teeth

Micah just lost his two front teeth. One fell out Thursday night after his baseball game, and the other one fell out out Friday at school. So, the Tooth Fairy has been busy at our house.

Sunny Days and Trampoline Fun!

It was such a beautiful day today. The kids played outside after dinner and had the greatest time making each other's hair stand up from the static.





I also caught Lucy trying to stick little pebbles up her nose. What is the fascination with kids sticking things up their noses?

Mother's Day and a Sick Baby Girl

Lucy came down with a really high fever Sunday(which just happened to be Mother's Day). She was acting pretty sick, so Isaiah and I took her to Urgent Care. We were told that she probably had a very bad bladder/kidney infection and that we should take her to the ER right away. The ER doctor told us that she did not have a bladder infection, and instead diagnosed her with an ear infection and a yeast infection. We got home, put her in the tub, and gave her a dose of her medicine, which she gagged down and proceeded to throw up all over the tub. I still wasn't sure it was her ear, so I made an appointment with her regular pediatrition the next day. I'm glad I did because it turned out she didn't have an ear infection or a yeast infection. She actually ended up having something called "Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease". She was miserable for a couple of days, but had a pretty mild case and is feeling fine now. I'm so glad I didn't force her to take those antibiotics for nothing.
