Riding the Bus
I think the most exciting thing about starting Kindergarten for Lily has been getting to ride the bus. I drove them to school all last week and she kept asking when she could ride the bus. Well, she finally got to. Micah was such a great big brother, too. He even waited for her at the top of the stairs. He does still have a soft side, after all. Of course, I did have to follow the bus to school. I ended up going to their school after they left anyway, since the school nurse was coming to Lily's class to talk about food allergies and her teacher asked all the parents of kids with food allergies to be there. It was really just an excuse to follow the bus to school, though :) Of course, now Lucy thinks that she should get to ride the bus, too. She likes to go out and wait for the bus with Micah and Lily and always says, "Me ride bus, me ride bus too!" I just tell her, "All too soon, Lucy, all too soon."

Our New Swingset
So...Isaiah and I bought a new wooden swingset for the kids and since he has been so busy (not to mention sick for a month), I told him I was just going to put it together myself. He laughed and told me I couldn't do it, so of course I had to prove him wrong. One week and a horendously messy house later, we have a swingset! I must say, I am pretty proud of myself. Isaiah was pretty impressed, too. And yes, the kids have been playing on it and it is still standing. Now, if I can just catch up on the laundry and the dishes and the bathrooms...

First Day of School!
Wow, the summer really flew by and it is hard to believe I now have a Second Grader and a Kindergartener! Today was Lily's first day of Kindergarten. She was so excited and LOVES her teacher, Mrs. Morris. Today, they baked Gingerbread Men and went on a hunt around the school to find them. She can't wait to go to school again tomorrow. I love that she is so excited about school, but I am also a little sad to see her go. :(
Here she is, lined up outside of her classroom door.

And here they both are, outside of their school.

Micah looks so grown-up in this picture. It seems like just yesterday that I was dropping him off for his first day of Kindergarten. He actually started school two days ago, but we had a couple of rough mornings which were NOT picture-worthy. For some reason, he was not quite as excited as his sister about starting school again. It's always hard to get back into the school routine, but today was better, so I snapped some pictures. I'm sure the day will come when they will cringe with embarrasement when I try to take their picture on the first day of school, but I can still get away with it for now.

Swim Lessons
Wow, I guess it has been a while since I last posted, but summer has just flown past and it is hard to believe school be will starting next week :( Micah and Lily have been taking swim lessons for the last month and they are both doing great. When they first started, neither of them even wanted to put their faces in the water and now they are both jumping right in. Micah is practically swimming across the pool and Lily is going under and swimming to her teacher. I am so proud of them both!
Here they are, jumping off the diving board at the end of the first session. Notice Micah is plugging his nose while he jumps. That was a hard habit to break!
And here they are by the end of the last session, jumping off the same diving board. Great job, Micah & Lily!

Happy 4th of July!
We had a pretty laid back 4th of July this year. Isaiah is on a Youth Mission Trip to Seattle, so we didn't do anything to exciting. Of course, I stayed up all night the night before making skirts for the girls (call me crazy, but they looked darn cute!:) The 4th fell on a Sunday, so we went to church in the morning, then came home for naps. After nap time, Ma & Pa came over and we hung up decorations and had a BBQ. Later on, we broke out the glow sticks and lit off a few fireworks, compliments of grandma and grandpa. I let the kids stay up late and we actually had a great view of the fireworks off the river from our back yard. I just laid out a blanket on the lawn and the kids and I sat and watched the fireworks. It was a little cold for the 4th of July, but was still a good day overall. Happy Independence Day to all!
